Angel Policy
Part 1 - General
This policy is specifically for the purpose of creating craft works for sale in limited quantities.
MHC typically does not object to the use of MHC graphics, backing papers and images (our "artwork" *) on / in another product for resale in a limited quantity, provided that you comply with a few simple guidelines, which may be modified from time to time at MHC 's discretion.
*The term "artwork" refers to MHC printable images, graphics, and backing papers, typically found in our printable kits.
It does not include the ready-made printable cards that we provide (for example, in this section here).
- First, the item for sale must be handmade. Any item sold must be personally made by you.
- For example, you are permitted to sell a greeting card that you have made by hand.
- But you may not sell items which have been mechanically replicated. Each craft work item created for sale must be personally and individually made by you, the selling artist.
- Mass production, assembly-line construction, production by workers for hire, or syndication of handmade craft work for sale is strictly prohibited under this Angel Policy. If you wish to produce items in this way, please contact us here to discuss an extended license.
- Second, you may donate your craft work items to a charity for them to offer for sale.
- Third, if you run a craft group:
- You can use the card ideas and printable kits in your Craft Class or Craft Group if the class or group is run for a charity.
- If you wish to use them in a Craft Class or Group which is run for profit, please purchase each product you wish to use once for each member of your group.
- Fourth, persons participating in this Angel Policy may not sell, transfer or assign the rights to MHC's artwork to anyone else.
Part 2 - More Details Regarding The Use Of MHC Artwork
If You Want To Use MHC Artwork In Items For Sale:
- You may not sell any part of our artwork in digital
format.
- For example, you do not have permission to resell the digital artwork (in whole or in part). You do not have permission to sell a digital scrapbook layout, digital web site template digital wallpaper or any other digital format that is derived from our artwork.
- If you would like to find out about a digital license, please contact us here. Please provide details about what you would like to do with the artwork.
- You may not may not print out MHC products (including artwork) and sell them as printed sheets, kits, books or similar.
- You may not create card toppers, diet cuts or other items (for people to make their own cards with) and offer them for sale.
- You may not digitally alter the artwork.
- For example, you cannot modify the artwork and then sell it on as your own creation.
- You are permitted to sell a maximum
of 50 items per image, per year.
- If you wish to produce more than this, please contact us here to discuss an extended license. Please provide details about what you would like to do with the artwork and the quantity that you have in mind.
- The term 'item' means any handmade craft project you make. You're permitted to sell 50 items per image - so for example you could sell 50 items that use printouts of the cute angel from the Christmas Doodles kit before you need to contact MHC for an extended license quote. You may choose to use any of the other images and/or backing papers in a kit up to 50 times each.
- Basically this term exists to give crafters a chance to get
their handmade crafting businesses up and running. Once you
have sold more than 50 handcrafted items using a particular
printable sheet or image, please get in touch to negotiate
an extended license.
But please remember that this is a very generous term, so many crafters won't need to worry until they really get going: You are permitted to sell 50 handcrafted items per image. So for example, with the Christmas Doodles eKit you could sell 50 handcrafted items using a Santa image, 50 items using the reindeer image, 50 items using the cute girl angel and so forth. Once you reach 50 items for that image, please contact us. This applies to all backing papers and other sheets in the kits.
Part 3 - Miscellaneous
- This angel policy does not include permission to use any photos or images that show any of MHC's finished card designs, or any photos or images that illustrate how to make a craft project (typically found in our eBooks or on selected web pages) in your own craft projects.
- Please note: You do have permission to follow our craft project ideas and to sell these handmade craft projects if you so wish.
- Participants in this Angel Policy assume all liability for suitability of their work and agree to indemnify MHC, Claire Williams, and MHC's artists from disputes arising from their work. By using our artwork, you agree that MHC, Claire Williams, and MHC's artists are not liable for any legal issues that may arise from using our artwork.
- This Angel Policy will be governed by the laws of England, United Kingdom, which will have exclusive jurisdiction over any proceeding arising from this policy. Any failure by MHC to enforce any of its rights will not constitute a waiver of such rights.
