How To Make Handmade Christmas Cards

Gold Embossed & Beaded Holly

This is a really pretty card design of a gold embossed holly centerpiece with pinky lilac glitter paper and gold seed beads for decoration.

You Will Need:

• A plain folded white card (C6)
• The pinkish lilac -backed holly image from the Printable Christmas Card Making Kit here...
• Pinkish lilac glitter paper (with gold glitter flecks)
• Gold silver-lined seed beeds
• Gold embossing powder
• Clear embossing pen
• Heat embossing tool (also known as a heat gun)
• PVC glue
• Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)

1. Print it out! Open up the Printable Christmas Card Making Kit [the what?] and print out the page that contains the pinkish lilac -backed holly design.
2. Tear it!
   • Carefully tear along the inner edges of the lilac design, so that approximately 1cm of the outer light lilac border is left.
   • Carefully tear a block of the lilac glitter paper, so that it spans the height of your card and approximately two thirds of its width.
3. Emboss it!
   • With your clear embossing pen, draw a rough inverted scalloped edging around the inner border of the hand-torn, rectangular, holly image. Do this in stages, so that you can sprinkle on the gold embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the gold embossing powder and your heat tool to emboss the design onto the paper as you go along.
   • Repeat the same procedure to heat emboss the central white holly design.
4. Spray glue it! Spray glue the back of the lilac glitter paper, and the back of the embossed holly design. I used 3M's Spray Mount glue. Fix the glitter paper to the front of your card first, in a central position. Then stick the rectangular holly design to the center of your card.
5. PVC glue it! Draw a vertical line of glue over the left and right edges of the lilac column of paper.
6. Fix seed beads! Add the gold seed beads to the lines of glue you've just made. Don't be too precise - the haphazard way in which the beads fall adds to the charm of a handmade card.
