Halloween Card Making Ideas

Halloween's Black Cat

You Will Need:

• A plain folded black card (C6)
• The cat image and the vintage Halloween backing paper (the one with writing on it) from the Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...
• Black marker pen
• Craft knife or scissors
• Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)
• Black and gold embossing powder
• Clear or black embossing pen

1. Print it out! Open up the Halloween Card-Making E-kit [the what?] and print out the page that contains the image of the cat . Also print out the page which contains the vintage Halloween backing paper (the one with writing on it). Tip: Try using a different backing paper from the E-kit, for a completely different look.
2. Cut it out!
   1. Carefully cut out one large cat from your print-out.
   2. Cut out a strip of the vintage Halloween backing paper, so that it spans the height of the card. Make sure the strip is wide enough so that there is space either side of the cat.
3. Emboss it! Next you need to emboss the cat cut-out.
   1. Color in the cat with your embossing pen in stages, so that you can sprinkle on the black embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the black embossing powder and your embossing heat tool to emboss the design onto your paper as you go along. Tip: Don't forget to leave holes for the eyes!
   2. Next, repeat the process to emboss the cat's eyes, but this time use gold embossing powder.
4. Spray glue it!
   1. Spray glue the backing paper onto the front of your card.
   2. Then spray glue the cat cut-out onto the front, positioning the cat centrally.

Tip: Play around when you make your Halloween card! Change the positioning of the backing strip and the cat, to give it a completely different look (e.g. how about placing the strip to the far left and placing the cat so that it's half over the right edge of the strip, and half on the black Halloween card?)

5. Add whiskers! Draw the Halloween cat's whiskers with your black marker pen.
