Free Card Making Idea For Halloween

The Cat Arched Its Back.... Boo!

Here's a free card making idea for Halloween. In fact, wouldn't it be cool to have a birthday card for people whose birthday fell on Halloween?

Well here's a very simple card design of a black cat. It's great for Halloween, but just as great for a birthday... I guess that would make it a cool halloween birthday card, right?

Difficulty Level: Beginner (knowledge of embossing needed)

To make this card you will need the cat image and slogan, which can be found in our Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...

You Will Need:

• A plain folded white card (C6)
• The cat image from the Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...
• Black embossing pen
• Gold and black embossing powders
• Carbon paper or graphite paper (for tracing the slogan)
• Scissors
• Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)

1. Print it out! Open up the Halloween Card-Making E-kit [the what?] and print out the page that contains the images of the cat arching its back.
2. Cut it out! Carefully cut out one cat shape from your print-out.
3. Transfer it! Open up your favorite Word Processing software and find a 'spooky' looking font. Type in 'Boo!', adjust the size, and print it out.
   
   Use your carbon or graphite paper to trace the 'Boo!' slogan onto the card. Carefully position it so that you leave enough room for the cat to be positioned in the center of your card.
4. Emboss it! Next you need to emboss the cat image and the slogan.
   • Draw over the phrase and cat image cut-out, with your black embossing pen in stages, so that you can sprinkle on the black embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the black embossing powder and your embossing heat tool to emboss the design onto your paper and card as you go along. As you'll see, the embossing powder will give your image and slogan a 'shiny molten metallic' look - very cool!

   Tip: Remember to leave holes for the eyes!

   • Emboss the eyes, using the same method, but this time use the gold embossing powder.
5. Spray glue: Spray glue the embossed cat cut-out and stick that in a central position, onto the front of your folded card. I used 3m's Spray Mount glue.
