Gothic Card Making Ideas
The Skull
Easy gothic-style card making ideas can be few and far between. So here's a morbid one for you...
A large sketched skull - surreal and eery!
This card is really easy to make. All you need to do is print out the skull from our kit, cut it out, and then mount it on some foam squares.
If you're feeling particularly creative then you might even want to add some eyes. You could use shiny black embossing powder to heat emboss the eye sockets. Or add scary red ones, or perhaps yellow cats eyes. Or just turn it all into a funny card and add googly eyes just for good measure!
Card Making Difficulty Level: Beginner (knowledge of embossing needed)
To make this card you will need the skull image which can be found in our Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...
You Will Need:

A plain folded black card (C6)
- The large skull image from the Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...
- Craft knife or scissors
- Spare card
- Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)
- Clear embossing pen
- Holographic embossing powder
- Foam squares
How To Make This Gothic Card Making Idea ...
- Print it out! Open up the Halloween Card-Making E-kit [the what?] and print out the page that contains the skull image.
Spray-glue it! Spray glue the skull sheet onto some card. Tip: You can skip this step if you prefer to print the skull sheet directly onto card instead of paper.- Cut it out! Carefully cut out one large skull from your print-out.
- Emboss it! Color in the skull's teeth with your embossing pen in stages, so that you can sprinkle on the holographic embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the holographic embossing powder and your embossing heat tool to emboss the design onto your paper as you go along.
[You can't actually see it in the picture but the skull's teeth are actually embossed!]
- Foam squares! Fix some foam squares to the underside of the skull cut-out and stick into place.
And voila! The gothic card making idea comes to life! And...
... the great thing about the Halloween Card-Making E-Kit is that you can print out as many images and backing papers as you want, so you can make this card design over and over again, and send it to all your friends and family for Halloween!
