'Spooky Times!' Shrieked The Goul...

Halloween can be a great time to get creative. If you're looking for printable Halloween paper, for cards you can make right now, then you've come to the right place! Once you download the printable Halloween papers, all you need are a few extra craft supply basics to get card making!

This greeting card design shows a goul (or a ghost), 'on the job' so to speak, being rather scary through an archway. Ah yes, these are indeed, spooky times!

Here's how to make this paper card making idea...

Difficulty Level: Beginner (knowledge of embossing needed)

To make this card you will need the goul image and blackish-grey patterned Halloween backing paper, which can be found in our Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...

You Will Need:

  • A plain folded black card (C6)
  • The goul image, 'Spooky Times' slogan and the blackish-grey patterned Halloween backing paper from the Printable Halloween Card Making Kit here...
  • Craft knife
  • Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)
  • A soft pencil (e.g. B as opposed to HB)
  • Silver embossing powder
  • Black embossing pen

Steps For Making This Halloween Paper Card Making Idea ...

  1. Halloween Paper Card Making IdeasPrint it out! Open up the Halloween Card-Making E-kit [the what?] and print out the page that contains the images of the goul . Also print out the page which contains the blackish-grey Halloween backing paper.
  2. Cut it out!
    • Carefully cut out one goul shape from your print-out.
    • Place your folded card onto the back of your blackish-grey Halloween backing paper, and draw around it. Then cut out the rectangle from the blackish-grey Halloween backing paper.
    • Next you need to cut out the archway. To avoid making marks on the front, draw the archway in pencil on the inside of the card and then cut out using your craft knife.
  3. Tip: To make sure the goul can be seen through the archway, place the goul cut-out onto the inside of your card as a guide for size.
  4. Spray glue it!
    • Spray glue the rectangle of blackish-grey Halloween backing paper onto the inside of your folded card, so that you can see it through the archway. I used 3M's Spray Mount glue.
    • Then spray glue the goul onto the inside of your card, making sure you can see it through the archway too.
  5. Transfer it! Open up your favorite Word Processing software and find a 'spooky' looking font. Type in 'spooky times', adjust the size, and print it out.

Using your soft B pencil, scribble hard onto the back of the 'spooky times' slogan you printed out. Then flip it over, position it on the bottom of the front of your card, and outline the slogan with a ballpoint pen, pressing fairly hard. Because the pencil led is shiny, you should just about be able to see the outline on your card, once it's been transferred.
  6. Emboss it! Next you need to emboss the slogan on the front of your card. Draw over the phrase with your black embossing pen in stages, so that you can sprinkle on the silver embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the silver embossing powder and your embossing heat tool to emboss the design onto your paper and card as you go along.

And voila! The Halloween paper and the card making idea, comes to life!

And don't forget! You can get the Halloween eKit (with the images and backing paper for this card) here...
