How To Make This Birthday Card Making Idea Example
-
On your scrap paper:
- Draw a heart shape. I drew a symmetrical heart shape but you may wish to draw another type of heart (a longer heart, a squat heart, a non-symmetrical heart shape etc.). This will be your template.
- Mark the positions of your faux gems: The easiest way to do this is to start by placing a cross at the bottom point of your heart, and a cross in the top (where it dips). There will be a point on the left and right, which will be the highest points of your heart shape (these points will be different if your heart shape is not symmetrical). Do the same for the two points on the left and right sides of the heart that are furthest apart. Then add more crosses along your heart shape outline, to indicate where the rest of the faux gems will be placed, making sure that they are evenly spaced out.
- Transfer: Get your card and place your template over the top (face up). Make sure it's positioned correctly on the card and then press down with your pen, on all the crosses. These will form a guide as to where you need to position your faux gems.
- Glue: Add small blobs of PVC glue over the small indentations you made on your card.
- Faux Gems: Carefully place the faux gems onto your card and leave to dry.
Tip: Press hard enough so that you'll be able to see where the indentation is once you remove your template. But don't press so hard that it makes a noticeable dent on the inside of your card! It's a good idea to unfold your card when you do this step.
And voila! The birthday card making idea example comes to life!
