Snowman Card For Christmas - Craft Idea
How To Make It ...
- Print it!
-
Open up the the 'funky-xmas-part-3-of-4' folder of the printable 'Funky Christmas' eKit [the what?]
- Print 'funky-xmas101' on to paper.
- Print 'funky-xmas106' on to paper.
- Print 'funky-xmas120' on to paper.
- Print 'funky-xmas149' on to paper.
- Open the 'funky-xmas-part-4-of-4' folder and print sheet 'funky-xmas208small' on to card.
-
- Cut it!
- Cut a rectangle of light pink card stock to use as your card blank. It should measure 15cm x 13.5cm.
- Cut 2 strips from sheet 'funky-xmas101'. Both strips should be 3.5cm wide and 12.5cm high, with the stripes running across the pieces.
- Cut a strip from sheet 'funky-xmas106' that measures 3.5cm x 12.5cm.
- Cut a rectangle from sheet 'funky-xmas120'. The rectangle should measure 7cm x 12.5cm.
- Cut the single snowman image from sheet 'funky-xmas149' and trim it so that it measures 4.7cm x 10cm.
- Cut the 'Let it snow' sentiment from sheet 'funky-xmas208' and trim it so that it measures 4.7cm x 3cm.
- Cut a strip of dark pink card to 12.5cm high. Trim it with your scallop scissors or your large scallop border punch.
- Cut a rectangle from your burgundy card and trim it with your scallop scissors or small border punch. The rectangle should measure 5.7cm x 11cm.
- Score it! Score and fold the light pink card 4cm in from the left edge. This gives you a card blank that measures 11cm x 13.5cm.
- Ink it! Ink all the edges of your printed pieces with dark green ink. Tip: Remember that you can use chalks or even eyeshadow for this.
- Stick it! Stick the snowman image to your scallop edged rectangle of burgundy card.
- Doodle it! Create snow around your snowman image with your gel pen. Put this aside to dry while you make the rest of the card.
- Make snowflakes! Make 2 snowflakes by either using your snowflake punch or cutting them out of a small piece of folded paper. Tip: To make a snowflake yourself, simply cut out a square and fold it in half and then in half again. Then finally, fold it diagonally in half. Next cut out one interesting snowflake branch, from the middle (point) outwards, making sure you leave the center point alone as this will form the center of your snowflake (so don't cut that part)! If you're unsure, use a pencil to sketch out a snowflake branch before cutting it out. Use lots of angular lines and get creative. Finally, cut along the branch lines, making sure you don't cut the center away (which is the point). Unfold, and voila! Your snowflake. Remember that if you don't like it, you can make another one until you're happy with it. And you can adjust the size of your squares for bigger or smaller snowflakes.
- Stick it!
- Fix your snowflakes to 2 buttons using scrappers floss or thread.
- Thread the scrappers floss through 2 more buttons and tie in a knot.
- Thread it!
- Lay your card blank flat out on your work space, with the flap to the left.
- Glue your rectangle from sheet 'funky-xmas120' to the far right of the card, leaving an equal border to the top, bottom and right edges.
- Glue your dark pink scallop border to overlap the left hand edge of the green patterned rectangle . Make sure the scallops are facing right.
- Glue one of the strips from sheet 'funky-xmas101' over the border so that the left edge of the strip is the same width as the one on the far right of the card.
- Stick the 2 buttons (with the snowflakes attached) to your card using glue dots. Position them close together on the bottom left near the border.
- Glue the spotty green strip from sheet 'funky-xmas106' to the far left of the open card, leaving the same width border all the way round. (This is the folded part, and will be inside once the card is closed).
- Stick your threaded buttons on to the spotty green strip with some glue dots. Place the buttons along the top left side, one under the other.
- Add ribbon! Fix the ribbon to the card. Tip: Some glues show through ribbon (especially white glue), so try sticking a spare piece to a small scrap of card first to check.
- Close the card, stick your ribbon across the middle of the front (folded part), leaving 4cm overhanging the edge. (You will need this later to tie the card closed).
- Turn the card face down and continue to stick the ribbon in a straight line across the back of the card.
- Turn the card back over and stick the ribbon across the front of the card for 7cm. You should leave the last 4cm of ribbon unstuck.
- Stick it!
- Stick your matted snowman image on to the card. Place it midway between your scallop border and the far right edge of the card. Stick it over the ribbon, leaving your 4cm of ribbon free to tie your card closed. (Remember you did not stick this piece down).
- Close your card and glue the second strip from sheet 'funky-xmas101' to the front of your card.
- Glue the sentiment (from sheet 'funky-xmas208') to the front of your card, below the ribbon. Take care to position this in the middle, leaving an equal overlap on both sides.
- Fix your last 2 buttons to the top of the card front using glue dots.
- Tie it! Tie the ribbon to close the card.
