Glitzy 3D '80' Birthday Invitation
'Come Celebrate!!!'

80th birthday card invitation ideas : A special, glitzy 3D design for a special birthday party!

Difficulty Level: Beginner (knowledge of how to emboss needed)

You Will Need:

  • A plain white folded card (square-shaped or just trim it down if C6)
  • Striped platinum and silver glitter patterned paper
  • Spare white card
  • Embossing heat tool
  • Gold embossing powder
  • Clear embossing pen
  • Small gold circular-shaped faux gems of various sizes
  • Spray on glue (I used 3M's Spray Mount)
  • PVC glue
  • Foam squares
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

How To Make This 80th Birthday Card Invitation Idea

  1. Draw it! Take your striped platinum and silver glitter patterned paper and on the back, draw an '80' in a frame. Draw the frame, freehand, on a slant. In other words, to give it a fun, 'cartoon' feel, don't draw the frame too neatly.
  2. Cut it out! Cut out the numbers and the frame.
  3. Glue it! Spray glue the numbers onto the folded card.
  4. 80th birthday card invitation ideasFoam squares! Stick some foam squares to the underside of the frame and position it onto your folded card.
  5. Write it! On the spare piece of white card, write 'Come Celebrate!!!' (or print it out on your computer if you prefer to use a special font).
  6. Emboss it! Next you need to emboss the slogan. Draw over the phrase with your clear embossing pen in stages so that you can sprinkle on the embossing powder before the ink dries. Use the gold embossing powder and your embossing heat tool to emboss the design onto your card as you go along.
  7. Trim it! Cut out your slogan so that there's a thin white rectangular border around it.
  8. More glue & foam squares! Put a little PVC glue onto the end of the slogan (reverse side), where it will stick to the frame. One the other side (towards the beginning your slogan), stick a foam square. Position the slogan into place so that one foam square sticks to the folded card, and the PVC glue (at the other end) sticks to the frame.
  9. Faux Gems! Put a few blobs of PVC glue on your frame and where the 'holes' would be in the numbers '8' and '0'. Place the gold-colored faux gems on top and leave to dry.
And voila! The 80th birthday card invitation idea comes to life!
